Drakken is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an integrated engineering, fabrication and testing contract by a major central Asian oil producer offshore Turkmenistan. The contract is currently underway, and will be installed on an existing oil platform in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea.
The Drakken team is controlling aspects of design and manufacturing of a custom module for control and operation of the pilot water injection system. The contract also includes the instrumentation and automation engineering for the water injection system.
“This pilot project is a fantastic opportunity for us provide one of our custom Command to Go Modules in a challenging offshore environment. The project is also a keystone for our expansion into further offshore ventures where our project teams have proven success.” said Ryan Arsenault, Director for Drakken. Warren Boyle, Project Manager, continued, “This pilot project will give us another opportunity to showcase our ability to execute fast track projects throughout Asia.”
Drakken' scope of supply on the project will include engineering, procurement and fabrication of the facility automation system as well as engineering of all process instrumentation, electrical power distribution, and all required field construction material. In addition, Drakken will supply the packaged Command to Go module (Integrated facility control room).
Mr. Boyle, a professional engineer (APEGA) as well as certified PMP project manager, has successfully executed major projects throughout North America, Africa, Yemen and Mexico.
About the Field
The owner holds a its principle asset, The Cheleken Contract Area, offshore in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea. The Cheleken Contract Area comprises of two production oilfields, Dzheitune and Dzhygalybeg, both were discovered in the 1960’s and 70s. The Pilot project is being conduction to prove the feasibility of seawater injection to enhance oil production on existing offshore platforms. Since 2000 the owner has increased production by a factor of 10 and continues to evaluate new technologies, as with this project, to further enhance oil production in the area.
